Meet the Team

Our team is people-oriented and we all care about our patients. We share the same philosophy of caring for people, not just their teeth, and believe in the quality services we provide.

We are all members of this community, so we interact with our patients outside the office, as well as during appointments. Those connections and conversations mean the world to us.

Our practice is known to be warm and caring, where we all spend time getting to know and enjoying the company of those we serve: they are our friends and part of our family.

~ Dr. Douglas Calem

Gail

Office Manager

As the Calem Family Dentistry office manager, I handle most everything that’s not clinical. This includes office communications and patient referrals, as well as handling insurance matters, billing, and scheduling. I focus on keeping us organized and ready to provide smile-filled visits.

I have been part of this amazing practice since 1996 and value this team and our doctors. Everyone works well together, supporting each other so we do right by our patient family. Our doctors are dedicated, caring professionals who provide quality dentistry that earns our patients’ trust and smiles.

My favorite times, when I’m not at the office, are spent outdoors. I love gardening, both vegetable and house plants, and go camping every chance I get.

Annette

Expanded Function Dental Assistant

I assist our doctors with procedures: always attentive to our patient’s comfort and making sure the visit goes smoothly. I also take X-rays and digital scans, create temporary and provisional crowns, place restorations, and manage our inventory.

I have been part of Calem Family Dentistry since 1995 and feel privileged to work with fine doctors and exceptional staff. Building patient relationships, for me, is a great motivator: I enjoy the company of those we serve and appreciate their trust in us.

Outside the office, time with family is my priority. I have been married for more than 40 years and have a son, a daughter, and three granddaughters, as well as two dogs. I enjoy traveling, bird watching, photography, music, and knitting.

Sue

Registered Dental Hygienist

As an RDH, I assess people’s periodontal and dental health and provide comprehensive and preventive hygiene services. During appointments, I educate patients about their oral health. Encouraging people to make positive changes in their dental hygiene helps them maintain a healthy smile!

In 1998, I found my home at Calem Family Dentistry, having started in the field in 1996. I can’t say enough about our doctors. Dr. Douglas Calem is an amazing dentist who has a great sense of humor and cares so much about our patients. And our staff? We think of each other as family and feel the same about those who come to us. I love seeing my long-time patients, catching up on what’s new in their lives, and love meeting and getting to know new people, too.

If not at work, I’m usually with my family. I have two adult daughters and a teenage son, along with two cats, MooMoo and Vivian. I like to walk and love spending time with my amazing kids.

Patty

Registered Dental Hygienist

I work with my patients to help them improve and maintain their oral health. I assess their periodontal and dental health, and offer preventive and maintenance care. A lot of my focus is on patient education: teaching people why it is important to take care of their oral health.

I became an RDH in 1983 and joined Calem Family Dentistry in 1986. The doctors and my coworkers are incredible people. We share the same objective: to provide quality care to our wonderful patient family.

In my off time, I enjoy biking and walking, and I am an avid photographer, too. I also volunteer for dental mission trips to the Dominican Republic, where we help people who have limited or no access to dental care.

Sara

Registered Dental Hygienist

As a dental hygienist my goal is to provide patients with a thorough oral hygiene examination and cleaning all while keeping them as comfortable as possible. I utilize radiographs and complete a periodontal assessment to detemine each patient’s overall oral health status. I provide individualized feedback when necessary to help improve and maintain oral health.

I grew up in South Williamsport and attended Penn College where I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in 2014. I began working at Calem Family Dentistry in the Fall of 2021. I am happy to be a part of such a great team and enjoy seeing the familiar faces that come into our office throughout the day.

Most of my time outside the office is spent raising my 3 boys. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, swimming and spending time with family at my cottage on the river.

Arlene

Hygiene Assistant

I assist our hygienists in preparation for a patient’s appointment. During the visit, I enter data provided by the hygienists into the computer. When we are finished and the patient has been dismissed, I sterilize the instruments and prepare the operatory for our next patient.

I have been a team member of Calem Family Dentistry since 1999. Working with Dr. Calem and the staff is enjoyable. Although the day-to-day operation is fast-paced, we all pitch in to make things go smoothly. This allows us to develop wonderful, trusting relationships with our patients. I appreciate those connections most of all.

Time with family makes me happy. My husband Fred and I have been married for almost 50 years. We have three children, eight grandchildren, and a very spoiled yellow Labrador Retriever. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, working jigsaw puzzles, and taking leisurely walks.

Jessie

2nd Dental Assistant and Hygiene Assistant

I work in our clinic and operatories. I provide chairside assisting to Dr. Calem during dental procedures, making sure he has what he needs while supporting our patient. When needed, I assist our hygiene department, too.

My dental field career started in 1982 and I joined Calem Family Dentistry in 2013. Dr. Calem has created a great working atmosphere and everyone here is like family. We feel the same about our wonderful patients and do our best to provide them with effective and comfortable dentistry.

I live in Elimsport with my husband Lonny. We have been married for more than 35 years and have two adult children and one granddaughter. I enjoy traveling every chance I get, and love spending time with my family.
